Illuminating the Future with Solar Energy
Relax, we've got
everything covered
We'll take care of absolutely everything. Our aim is to make your upgrade to renewables as easy and affordable as possible.
Start saving money in as little as 7 days
The average household can save up to 70% on their energy bills by having solar panels installed. By choosing ICS Renewables, you could have your solar project installed in as little as 7 days.
Lower your carbon footprint
By converting sunlight into electricity, solar panels eliminate the need for fossil fuel-based power sources that contribute to greenhouse gas emissions.
Low Maintenance
Solar panels require very little maintenance, no annual services, no regular cleaning, no stress. Our panels benefit from a special hydrophobic coating which repels rainwater, snow and debris - keeping your panels cleaner for longer.
How do solar panels work?
Solar panels capture the suns energy and covert it into electricity that can be used to power homes and businesses.

Each solar panel is made up of photovoltaic (PV) cells. When daylight shines on them, it makes particles called electrons move which creates a direct current (DC). An inverter then converts the direct current into alternating current which powers your home.
Each hour, the Earth's atmosphere receives enough sunlight to power the entire world for one whole year!
A typical home solar PV system could save over a tonne and a half of carbon dioxide per year, which is the equivalent of...
Boiling a kettle three times a day for 29 years
Leaving an LED lightbulb on for 68 years
Charging a smartphone everyday for 500 years
The highest quality
With our all black solar panels, you will benefit from optimal energy production, long-term reliability and the highest standards of quality in your renewable energy system.
Smart Export
Guarantee
SEG is a government-backed initiative that compels large energy suppliers to pay homeowners for the renewable energy they send back to the National Grid. Companies set their own SEG tariff prices, so you’ll need to shop around to make sure you get a price you’re happy with. If you have a battery, your system will export electricity to the grid once your battery is fully charged.

What is an inverter and why do I need one?An inverter is an essential component of a solar power system that converts the direct current (DC) electricity generated by solar panels into alternating current (AC) electricity, which is the standard form of electricity used in homes and businesses. Solar panels produce DC electricity because they are made up of photovoltaic cells that generate a flow of electrons in one direction. However, most electrical appliances and the power grid operate on AC electricity, where the flow of electrons periodically changes direction.
-
Do I need planning permission?Solar panels are considered ‘permitted developments’ in which, the Government extended Permitted Development Rights, meaning planning permission is no-longer required to install solar PV or solar thermal on non-domestic buildings.
-
Can I get paid for the electricity my panels make?Yes under the Smart Export Guarantee you can get paid for the excess electricity that you export back to the National Grid. You'll need to shop around to find a good rate. In addition to this, we would recommend looking into battery storage. During the evening, when your solar panels are not producing electricity, if you don't have a battery you'll be purchasing power back from the grid at a higher rate. With a battery, you can store your free renewable electricity created during the day to use during the evenings. You could also charge your battery from the grid during off peak times at a lower rate than standard tariff charges, saving you even more money.
-
Will my solar panels work on cloudy days?Solar panels generate energy from daylight, not just direct sunlight or heat. This means your panels will generate electricity all year round whether clear or cloudy conditions. During the winter months they will produce less energy as the days are shorter, meaning less daylight.
-
Do they need regular cleaning or maintenance?Solar Panels are designed to be self-cleaning so you don't need to do anything. As there are no moving parts, they don't require regular servicing either. In certain situations, such as having panels in a particularly dry area where dust or sand may build up, cleaning every few years may be beneficial. In these instances we would recommend a local specialist cleaning company.
-
How much do they cost? The cost can vary depending on factors such as system size and location. Larger systems will generally cost more than smaller ones due to the increased number of solar panels and equipment required. Getting quotes from multiple installers and comparing different financing options can help you find the best price for your specific needs. Get in touch with us today for a free quotation.
-
Can I use the electricity from my solar panels during the evening? If you have a battery, yes. Solar panels require daylight to generate electricity, so they do not produce power at night. However, excess electricity generated during the day can be stored in batteries allowing you to use that stored energy during nighttime hours.

What does a typical installation look like? After your initial assessment, we carefully design your system tailored to your specific requirements. This includes determining the number and placement of solar panels, selecting the appropriate inverter and designing the electrical wiring and mounting system. We will then provide you with your proposal detailing the system specifications, expected energy production and cost savings. When you're happy with our proposal we will arrange installation. Installation typically takes half a day. Upon completion you'll receive a handover pack which includes all of your important documents such as warranty information, guarantees and safety certificates. No fuss, it is as simple as that.
